Top 5 Time-Saving Filters in Activity Center from Easy Projects’ CEO

My "watched projects" view

Here at Logic Software, we practice what we preach, which means that we use Easy Projects on a daily basis to manage all of our ongoing development projects.

Even though I’m not involved in all technical activities of our team, I pay close attention to the status of our key projects and tasks.

Our new Activity Center made it really easy for me, thanks to its quick and flexible filtering system and “Saved Views” functionality.

Now, I want to share with you my top 5 favourite filters that help me to know what’s happening in the company. Please note that I use “filter” and “view” interchangeably, since each saved view essentially is a combination of one or several filters.

#1: Recently Completed Activities

I have to confess, I don’t read all e-mail notifications sent by Easy Projects, so usually on Friday, I run my “Recently completed” view to see all tasks that were done this week.
Here are my settings and the resulting view…

#2: My Watched Projects

With dozens of projects going on simultaneously, it’s easy to get overloaded. That’s why my default view is set to “Watched Projects”. It shows only my top-priority projects that I want to monitor on a daily basis. The view setup is really simple: you just choose the projects you care most about and save the view…

#3: Projects at Risk

I rely on Earned Value Analysis methodology implemented in Easy Projects to identify all projects that are at risk of being late or over budget.
I’m only using one Health filter with two values: At Risk and Trouble for this view…

#4: My Assignments

Believe it or not, I do have some tasks on my plate, which I, of course, track with our project management software.
This is the built-in view that comes standard with the default installation of Easy Projects. It includes all active (in-progress) statuses and myself as an assignee. Personally, I like using Activity Center to work with my tasks instead of the My Assignments page, but this is really a matter of preference.

#5: Upcoming Milestones

I use this view only once a month or so, but it’s extremely useful. It helps me to identify milestones in all of our projects that are coming up next month.
I use two filters here: Type is set to Milestone and End Date is set to Next Month…

Do you have your favourite filters or views? I’m sure our Easy Projects community would love to hear from you, so please do share in the comments below.
